Dr Alphy S Puthiyidom

Dr. Alphy S. Puthiyidom is an accomplished gynecologist with over 15 years of experience, excelling in advanced and complex laparoscopic surgery with a specialized focus on endometriosis cases. She currently serves as the Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Mediclinic Welcare Hospital and is frequently sought out as a tertiary referral for difficult surgical cases.

In 2023, Mediclinic Welcare Hospital was accredited as a Centre of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery, and Dr. Alphy was recognized as a Master Surgeon and Surgeon of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology by the Surgical Review Corporation, USA.

Dr. Alphy completed her MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology and went on to pursue her Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Urogynecology from the Sunrise Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi, India. She also received training in endometriosis and advanced laparoscopy from IRCAD in Strasbourg, France and Robotic surgery training from Advent Health Nicholson Center in Florida, USA.

Dr. Alphy has a passion for treating women with Endometriosis and pelvic pain and is pursuing further education in Neuropelveology, a relatively new discipline concerned with the dysfunction of pelvic nerves.

Over the course of her career, she has successfully performed more than 10,000 advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures, showcasing expertise in challenging cases like severe and recurrent endometriosis and removal of large and multiple fibroids.

A dedicated multidisciplinary team at Mediclinic, involving experts in colorectal surgery, urology, and fertility, collaborates to manage complex endometriosis cases.

In addition, Dr. Alphy received her basic training in infertility management and assisted reproductive techniques (ART) from the Institute of Reproductive Medicine in Kolkata, India, and also received training in gynecological oncology from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bangalore.



Dr. Alphy is an esteemed educator, having trained over 350 gynecologists across India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia in minimally invasive techniques. She's been a featured speaker at international and national conferences, also serving as surgical faculty for live surgical workshops.

Beyond her medical achievements, Dr. Alphy is passionate about health education, delivering public lectures in women's health. She holds memberships in esteemed professional organizations including the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy, the European Urogynaecology Association, and the International Urogynecological Association.
