Getting to Bend

Getting to Bend

Bend has a small town flavor with lots of big city amenities.  For information on the local happenings during your visit please see www.visitbend.com .  It's a great place to live and if you visit you will understand why Dr. Redwine chose it for his home.

We are located in the high desert (3,600 ft) just east of the Cascade Mountain, near the Mt. Bachelor ski resort.  The city has some snow in the winter and temperatures are routinely in the 20's.  Spring weather is widely variable, but predominately dry.  Summer days are generally dry and warm (80's) but still quite cool at night.  Autumn brings a general cooling, but still very little rain.

Airlines

Horizon Airlines, United Express, Allegint Air and Skywest all serve Central Oregon.  They fly into Redmond Airport with direct connections from Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland.  Redmond Airport is about a 20 minute drive from Bend.

Driving

If you are considering flying to Portland and then driving to Bend keep in mind that it is about a 3 1/2 hour drive under the best conditions.  It is a beautiful drive but between October and May you may encounter significant snow over the Cascade Mountain passes.  Be sure to pack snacks and warm clothing.

Getting Around

You will need to either rent a car or rely on taxis to get around.  If you are using taxis then be sure to factor in "wait" time to keep your appointments.

 Lodging

Bend offers a wide variety of lodging options from the small bed and breakfast to a new full service hotel.  These can be found at www.visitbend.com .  Our own lodging list has been developed from patient feedback.  Many of these will give you a "medical discount" if you tell them that you are here for surgery with Dr. Redwine.
